It has just been announced that Man of Steel will be shown in 3D 70MM IMAX format at the ODEON Printworks, one of only two cinemas to be given the enhanced version of the upcoming blockbuster. The film opens in cinemas this Friday 14th June 2013.

The eagerly awaited film by the 300 director Zack Snyder stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams and Michael Shannon; Man of Steel is the prequel to the Superman tale where a young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. He journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. The hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind.

The ODEON in The Printworks Manchester is the only one in the UK besides Glasgow to receive the film in 70MM as opposed to the standard digital format. 70MM is the optimum size screen for this film as it was filmed in this format of IMAX camera so the footage will fill the entire 26.3m x 18.7m screen. The Printworks ODEON’s Digital IMAX screen is the only one outside of London this size that’s capable of showing it.

The film opens in cinemas on Friday 14th June with showings in the 3D IMAX and 2D IMAX.

Tickets are priced at £7.80 for adults, £4.20 for children and family tickets are £18.80. IMAX 3D tickets are priced at £12.30 for adults, £9.20 for children and family tickets are £36.80. Gallery screenings are priced at £17.75 for adults only including complimentary soft drinks and snacks.

Fred Booth, Centre Director, said:

“It’s fantastic that our ODEON is one in only two in the entire UK to get this legendary film in 3D 70 mm format. This means the Printworks is the only place in the whole of England to see this film in the format it was intended by the director.”
