The Manchester Picnic in Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester city centre will be packed with kid’s entertainment over the weekend, Saturday 3 – Sunday 4 August, 12pm – 7pm. There will be family fun from System One’s Mr Red, painting workshops, Giant Jenga and Connect 4 garden games with Nandos, and face painting.

On Sunday 4 August, picnickers will be entertained by the sounds of Unity FM and the popular Teddy Bear’s Picnic returns. The kids’ Sunday fun-day is hosted by Baby Ballet’s Twinkle the Bear and Flutterby Fairy, who the tiny tots can dance along with.

Organised by Piccadilly Partnership, part of CityCo, Manchester’s city centre management company, this year’s theme will be a ‘Gourmet Garden Party’ to celebrate the opening weekend of Dig the City, Manchester’s urban gardening festival, which will turn the city’s streets green with flower markets, a forest and talks by horticultural experts including Monty Don.

Alexandra King, CityCo’s Partnership Director said: “The Teddy Bear’s picnic on the Sunday of The Manchester Picnic is always a really memorable day and this year promises to be no different. We’ve got an even bigger programme of child-friendly activities than ever before thanks to our friends at Baby Ballet, Nandos, System One and Unity Radio. Bring your favourite bear and come and enjoy some family fun.”

With more than 25 stalls this time, there are plenty of tasty treats that kids will love including fish-finger sandwiches from Green Goddess, Moo Moo Milk Shakes, Hoggie Hog Roast, Fire and Slice pizzas, fancy fish and chips from Fish & Co, Tio’s Snack Shack burgers, Ginger’s Comfort Emporium’s famous ice-cream, and cakes sold from Lullabelle’s pink vintage campervan.
