HAILED as one of the most popular eateries in Manchester, The Macdonald Hotel and Spa proves why its steaks are still the top scoring dishes in town.

The four-star  Hotel and Spa has re-opened its doors of its Scottish Steak Club restaurant with a vast and varied collection of unique savoury cocktails.

Complimenting the exquisitly cooked food to perfection, the ‘Whisky Steak’ and the ‘Rosemary Gin Steaktini’ are just a small taster of why the venue is still sizzling.

A refurburbishment of the top restaurant has provided customers with a whole new dining experience in a stunning setting.

Harwood Warrington, restaurant operations director, said: “The refurbishment means we now offer an even better guest experience that maximises on our core values, its location and position within the city restaurant scene. The restaurant is a destination in itself and we’re looking forward to welcoming even more non-residents in Manchester.”

New additions to the swanky menu includes features a blend of delicious Scottish steak and high grade Scottish whisky or vodka, designed to encapsulate the finest flavours of Scotland in a glass.

The Whisky Steak is a short cocktail that uses fine quality Monkey Shoulder blended malt Scotch whisky alongside in-house aged 21 day Scots Beef farmed Sirloin Steak for soaking or dipping in the drink.

And what a winner it is. Guests at a recent VIP launch couldnt get enough of the unusual cocktail/steak concoction.

Manchester Social 101 editor Lucy Hilton said: “It was actually an explosion of incredible flavours on my tastebuds. Usually I despise rare steak and I can’t stand whiskey. How very wrong I was.

“I was dubious to try it at first. But once I had dipped a slice of the meat into the short I couldn’t get enough – it was stunning.”

Another newby is the Rosemary Gin Martini which has been mixed as a palate cleanser to make the first mouthfuls of the top-class steak even more delicious.

The recent restaurant and bar refurbishment means that the hotel now benefits from a uniquely renovated first floor Scottish Steak Club restaurant with stunning views across the city. The open-plan live kitchen allows guests to watch the chefs in action and relax in the new surroundings.

Paul Bayliss MBE, General Manager at Macdonald Manchester Hotel and Spa, said: “Our restaurant team and chef brigade wanted to create a Manchester first that would play to Macdonald Hotels’ Scottish heritage, so they started to work with our two most iconic ingredients – Scottish beef and Whisky.

“The Whisky Steak and Rosemary Gin Steaktini offer guests something completely unique to other cocktails in the city and combines amazing flavours. We’ve mixed the richness of salty steak with the sweet, subtleness of malt whisky or dryness of gin.

“We don’t compromise on service and work to offer the very best restaurant experience for our guests. The Steaktini is a bit of fun as part of our re-launch, but it is serious in pushing forward fantastic produce in a great environment.”
