Food 101** IN BLOOM launches sumptuous food menu

Might I just start by saying that I’m VERY impressed by all that Spinningfields has to offer! It really brings Manchester to life and is one of my fave spots!

One of the latest additions to Spinningfields’ leisure offering, IN BLOOM has now opened up its kitchen, taking advantage of its on-site herbs with a sumptuous menu including light bites, soup and sharing platters. 

IN BLOOM is the only bar of its kind in Manchester, creating the perfect blend between the natural world and urban jungle.  

Created by Australian chef Adrian Taylor, the menu focusses on fresh, flavoursome food, which has been sourced locally. There is a real emphasis on a relaxed dining experience, which encourages sharing with the bar’s platters already proving popular. The platters, which are for two or more people, include an antipasti, meat and cheese option. The hummus, which comes with a selection of artisan breads, and is served with an Egyptian spice mix and coriander cress, has also proved a best seller.   

The majority of the herbs used by IN BLOOM have been grown on site, and harvested by none other than the bar’s resident herb gardener, Tony Hicks.  

 Tony, aged 81, has his own allotment in Sale and regularly visits the bar to check on the progress of his basil, coriander, mint and thyme to name but a few.  

For those city dwellers who are keen to dabble in a spot of urban gardening, Tony advises to keep it simple.   

Tony said; “It’s best to start off growing things that don’t require a lot of maintenance. Mint and thyme are herbs that are very straightforward and can be used in a number of different recipes. In terms of flowers, lavender is a lovely plant and again, very simple to grow. Simplicity is definitely the key for gardening beginners!” 

The bar is open 12.00-23.00 Sunday to Wednesday, 12.00-00:00 Thursday, and 12.00-10:00 Friday and Saturday. 

IN BLOOM also has a series of events scheduled throughout the summer including BBQs, outdoor games, croquet on the lawn, cocktail and beer tutorials. The full line-up of events will be announced shortly.
