TOP Manchester culinary wizard Simon Rogan has placed another prestigious accolade on his already expanding pile.

The French at The Midland has been awarded Restaurant of the Year in the Outside of London category at the Food and Travel Magazine Reader Awards.

It was a great night for the hotel, who was also runner up in the Hotel of the Year category, only losing out to the prestigious Mandarin Oriental, Hyde Park.

Mike Magrane, General Manager at The Midland said: “We are delighted that the restaurant has been named Restaurant of the Year outside of London by Food and Travel Magazine readers.

“This year is proving to be a standout year for The Midland, having being crowned Group Hotel of the Year at The Caterer and Hotelkeeper awards in July.

“The awards are testament to the team’s hard work over the past year, and we’re proud The French is putting the north back on the foodie map, as it proves that tourists don’t have to travel to London to experience the very best in fine dining.”

In its third year, the Food and Travel Magazine Reader Awards recognises excellent service in UK and international food and travel sectors. The awards are well-respected in the industry as they are voted for entirely by Food and Travel Magazine readers.

This year is proving to be an award-winning year for The French. For the second year running, the restaurant has been ranked number 14 in the UK in the new edition of the Waitrose Good Food Guide – the only restaurant in Greater Manchester to feature in the top 50.
