Join the nation’s latest trend and get crafting at Creative Stitches & Hobbycrafts this spring featuring the best that the craft world has to offer. Taking place at EventCity, Manchester from 6-8 February, get inspiration from film costumes and textile displays as well as the latest supplies from more than 100 exhibitors

Regional exhibitors include The Black Sheep from Warrington offering all the latest wools and knitting supplies; Bombay Stores from Bradford with lots of exciting fabric and haberdashery products; and Sally’s Jewellery from Walsall with unique, affordable antique style jewellery and vintage clothes and accessories.

Dream a dream of times gone by with a selection of costumes from the film spectacular ‘Les Misérables’. These exclusive costumes were created by Oscar nominated Paco Delado for an all-star cast including Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, and comedy duo ‘The Thénardiers’, Helena Bonham Carter and Sasha Baron Cohen.

Prepare to be amazed by the collection of Giant Books from textile enthusiast Alison Murray. The three books are individually themed and handcrafted from textiles and knitted elements, with the first book inspired by Myth and Legends, the second by Nature and the third on a Futuristic theme. The books range from a staggering 7ft to 9ft tall, each with individual turning pages. Alison’s previous ventures include the world’s largest knitted Christmas tree and a giant Gingerbread House – and most recently, the knitted walk through aquarium, Above and Below the Waves. Contributors from around the world have sent Alison their creations to complete the Giant Books.

Be wowed by the fantastic creations featuring on the Catwalk Fashion Shows taking place each day at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. Visit the popular Sewing Hub – perfect for any stitching enthusiasts or those just starting out. Learn how to master sewing machines in the Sewing Machine Clinic’s mini-workshops focusing on basic sewing techniques or visit the Dressmakers’ Pattern Bar to peruse all the latest patterns and get advice from a Dressmaking Advisor.

Head back in time with a short history of fashion viewed through a collection of handbags, hats and gloves from 1890 to 1960 in the Fashion, Handbags and Gladrags display. These stunning accessories show the styles associated with each decade and how they have developed through the ages, from textile techniques to style, colour and fabrics.

The Hidden Histories collection from the Quilters’ Guild of the British Isles showcases pieces inspired by occasions, memories, a story or place created by quilters from across the country.
