THE the UK’s fastest-growing talent agency for children ‘Top Talent Agency’ is coming to Manchester to find talent children in a unique audition event.
The agency, which is the leading supplier of child actors to popular TV shows like EastEnders and Holby City, currently has 400 children on its books, and is particularly after more children from the Manchester area, due to the increasing demand for talented youngster from productions companies.
Director Warren Bacci said interest in joining an agency has soared, as children are inspired by acts like Bars and Melody and James Smith, finalists in this year’s BGT, but also the demand for talented children for theatre productions, TV series, films and commercials has never been higher either.
He added: “I started this agency six years ago and the only children I had on the books then were those from Hertfordshire and London, but the demand for child performers has steadily grown since then.
“A lot of this is due to the huge popularity of children in theatre productions – shows like Matilda and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory – but children are now often taking lead roles in film and TV, much of which is filmed in Manchester, and so we are always on the lookout for real talent and more than ever we want children from Manchester and the surrounding area.”
The success of child performers on shows such as Britain’s got Talent has meant Bacci has children beating a path to his door, by the thousands.
The last time the agency held auditions in Hertfordshire and London for children to try and get onto their books (in February) saw record numbers of children applying – over 2,000. Bacci is hoping that the enthusiasm will reach to Manchester too for the auditions.
Bacci said: “We have phone calls everyday, mostly from mums (and sometimes dads) whose children want the chance to be represented by a talent agency and find their way onto a West End stage or film or TV set. But when BGT is on the calls treble, at least.
“Successful young people on BGT inspire children at home and make them believe that there really is a chance for them to achieve something in performing arts.
“It’s great, but we are looking for real talent as this business is very competitive, and we really want Manchester based children and young people now. However, the audition process in this business is really tough and a complete reality check for children who are not up to the mark. You might think Simon Cowell can be blunt with people, but he is a pussycat compared to the process child performers have to go through to audition for a West End show.
“But our Top Talent auditions are fun, informal workshop based auditions, with nothing to prepare. They are designed to put children at their ease so their talent can shine through. I promise you won’t get buzzed off!”
The Manchester audition will be held at the lowry Theatre on Saturday August 23. For more information and to book a place email admin@toptalentagency.co.uk.
