Opening in October 2005, Airkix was The UK’s first purpose-built wind tunnel, providing the popular indoor sky diving or body flying experience. Anyone aged 4 -104 can experience the adrenaline-charged feeling of freefalling indoors within a safe environment. Visitors can fly at three locations including Milton Keynes, Manchester and the new Airkix Activity Centre in Basingstoke.
Airkix works simply and safely. The wind tunnel circulates air into the flight chamber – the flyer simply leans forward into the wind (usually around 110mph) and assumes a horizontal flying position, this is indoor skydiving! Airkix consistently scores an average satisfaction rating of around 95% in the post flight survey with a recommendation rating even higher.
The wind tunnel is not just for first timers and skydivers from around the World use Airkix. In fact Airkix instructors and sponsored flyers have gone on to represent the UK in a wide variety of skydiving events and even produced World Champions. A wind tunnel is one simulator that skydivers cannot afford to ignore if they wish to win Gold.
The latest Airkix centre at Basingstoke takes the company to new levels as it adds further experiences to create a full day of activities for individuals and groups alike.
Experiences include Skiplex, the never-ending indoor ski and snowboard slope, Brushboarding, an innovative surfing simulator where you never need get wet and Sim Car Racing where you can race a wide variety of cars including F1 on circuits all around the world.
Airkix likes to welcome all groups including first timers, the military, skydivers, corporates, stag & hen parties and is especially proud of its record of flying physically disabled flyers. Notable successes include flying a quadriplegic and helping to train (and sponsor) a skydiving team where all members are missing limbs.
