A LEADING hotel boss has been selected as the appointed chair of the Manchester Hoteliers Association.
Paul Bayliss MBE, general manager of Macdonald Manchester Hotel and Spa, will now lead the association dedicated to championing the vibrant city hotel scene and gives hotel managers a voice on important issues such as marketing and tourism activities.
In his new role as Chair, Paul will identify challenges in Manchester for the hotel sector and work with a committee to tackle key issues, including marketing, tourism activities, careers and charity events.
He said, “My hope is solidify relationships in the hotel community and encourage businesses to seize opportunities to drive visitors to the city.”
The group is critical in ensuring that the city can accommodate visitors that help make Manchester’s large events and festivals a success.
With more than six years of experience in the hotel industry, Paul has been involved with the Association since 2009 and brings a wealth of leadership experience and knowledge of tourism in Manchester to the role.
Paul helped to launch the Macdonald Hotels Academy earlier in 2014, which helps young people into the employment in the industry through apprentice schemes.
Beginning his career in the military, Paul received a World Class Chef/Solider Apprenticeship at the renowned Army School of Catering.

As well as taking on the position as Chair, Paul is also a guest speaker for TripAdvisor and the UK Housekeepers Association
