Wine fans of Manchester are in for a treat as #ukwinehour comes to Chetham’s this Friday (14th July) and you can be part of it.

The informal event will see 12 suppliers, offering 30 varieties of wine including Vinitalia, California Wines, Cordoníu Spanish wines, Exton Park English sparkling, Deutz Champagne, Alpine Wines, Bordeaux, Disznoko Hungarian Tokaji, Majestic, and Quinto do Noval port.

Didsbury-based Reserve Wines, founded by TV wine expert Kate Goodman, will also be showcasing a selection of wines and Cracking Wines will display details on wine tasting events in the region.

Simon Woods, wine author blogger, columnist and educator from Saddleworth, will be signing copies of his new book ‘I don’t know much about wine, but I know what I like’.

In addition, Lazenne wine luggage will be offering a free Elite Winecheck case on the night to one lucky winner, WSET (Wines and Spirits Education Trust) will be providing information on wine education, while Manchester-based Ten Acre will be providing savoury snacks to keep taste buds refreshed during the evening.

#ukwinehour is a wine-themed Twitter chat that takes place every Thursday between 7pm and 8pm. It’s the first time the meet up has been held in Manchester – giving wine and Twitter fans the chance to sample wines, discuss them and, of course, share via social media.

Hosted by Sorcha Holloway, the live event brings together wine fans from around the UK and invites them to swirl, sip and slurp wines, compare notes, and share preferences and comments on social media.

Sorcha says: “ukwinehour is about bringing people together with a common interest in wine – whether they are branching out from Pinot Grigio and Cabernet Sauvignon, want to learn more and taste new wines, work in the industry or want to venture into the world of wine. The live events are a fun opportunity to get together and meet new wine enthusiasts and with so many brilliant wine bars, bloggers and wine fans in the north, we decided to hold the event in the Manchester.

“There is something for everyone at our live event, from well known Spanish Cavas and traditional French reds, through to up and coming English sparkling wines and lesser known Hungarian varieties – so grab a glass and join in the fun!”

Tickets are £15 each and include samples of all wines to taste on the night. Click here to book or pay on the door.

Ukwinehourlive takes place from 6pm to 9pm on Friday 14th July at Chetham’s Library Baronial Hall, Manchester, M3 1SB.
