Screenfields is set to flex its muscles with its sporting line-up this summer, which started with the horse racing at Royal Ascot last week and will continue with two weeks of Wimbledon, starting on June 24th.

During Wimbledon, the screen will not be showing its Thursday night films, which will recommence on Thursday, June 11th.

With tickets for all sports screenings free and un-ticketed, fans can kick back on a deckchair and relax on The Lawns at Hardman Square in front of Manchester’s only outdoor cinema.
During Wimbledon, Aperol Spritz, Italy’s favourite libation, will have a social pop-up bar on The Lawns. Serving daily Sunday to Thursday from 12pm – 12am and Friday and Sunday 12pm -1am; tennis fans can take in the action of the courtside on the giant screen, while enjoying Aperol’s sparkling 3-2-1 Spritz serve from the comfort of Aperol Spritz deck chairs.
In addition to the Aperol Spritz Bar, The Long Bar and IN BLOOM are on hand to serve up a mouth-watering selection of food and drinks to those watching Centre Court.
In addition to Wimbledon, the big screen will also show the Tour de France highlights from 29th June – 21st July and The British Grand Prix on 30th June. Cricket fans will be able to catch the highlights of The Ashes from 10th August – 25th August. The Athletic World Championships highlights will also be shown between August 10th and 18th.
The summer programme of events has always proved a massive draw at Spinningfields, attracting over 100,000 people down to the estate in 2012. The redesign of Hardman Square’s public realm will add an extra dimension for visitors this year, with the space set up to allow for pop-up experiential activity which recently included the Ben & Jerry’s Core Tour and Manchester’s Chai and Chaat event with The Spice Club . With Screenfields, the new-look Square, a host of new bars and eateries and SpinFest confirmed at The Oast House during Bank Holiday weekends, this summer looks set to be bigger and better than ever.
